Plot[]
Sugumi continues to have strange visions through the eyes of Ai Enma and sees that she has recently been in a used book store. Although his daughter is embarrassed about some of the store's merchandise, Hajime is able to get enough information from Sugumi to figure out where to start looking.
Hajime later begins searching for the book store and tries several locations before he is eventually able to come across a shop called Tap. After a conversation with the store owner, Hajime is given a book called Purgatory Girl and finds a striking similarity between the story and the Hell Correspondence. Through the book, Hajime learns that the story was written several decades earlier by an author and artist named Fukumoto. Finding Fukumoto, Hajime meets with him and learns that Fukumoto had accessed the Hell Correspondence fifty years earlier through a newspaper missing persons column in order to send a man named Okochi to Hell when he had seen Okochi assault his wife; which eventually led to her committing suicide.
Fukumoto confirms his story was based on his actual meeting with Ai Enma and how he entered a contract with her in order for his vengeance to be carried out. Hajime argues that Ai is causing too much damage and needs to be stopped but Fukumoto replies that Ai is not the one at fault for what's happened to him or others since it was their enemies that caused such torment onto them which in turn led them to contact her in the first place. Figuring that Ai must have been human at one point herself, Fukumoto reveals there are records of events relating to the Hell Correspondence dating back several hundred years.
As Fukumoto completes a painting of Ai, his candle is shown going out and he passes away. As he is being ferried to Hell, Fukumoto is happy to be reunited with Ai as it was the one thing he was looking forward to when he died. He asks her if it is possible that he will meet with Okochi in Hell but Ai tells him that it may be impossible given how vast Hell is.
